Traditional Beef Stew with Osso Bucco Recipe 

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs grass-fed beef shanks or beef osso bucco, cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Beef Shanks

  • Begin this easy beef recipe with osso bocco by heating olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the grassfed beef shanks or osso bucco meat chunks and cook until they are evenly browned on all sides, which should take about 5 minutes. Once browned, remove the beef from the cooking pot and set it aside.

Cook More Ingredients for the Stew

  • In that same pot, add chopped onion and garlic, and please cook them until they are softened and fragrant, which should take about 3 minutes.

Add Vegetables and Seasonings

  • Return the beef to the pot. Add the sliced carrots, diced potatoes, beef broth, and, if desired, red wine. Also, add the diced tomatoes, bay leaves, and dried thyme. Season the ground beef stew mixture with salt and pepper to taste.

Take Your Time
